MODL-21. EFFICACY OF DIFFERENT LAYOUTS IN TREATING INFRATENTORIAL TUMORS WITH TUMOR TREATING FIELDS (TTFIELDS)

چکیده

Abstract TTFields are an anti-mitotic technique used to treat solid tumors by delivering low-intensity (1–4 V/cm) alternating electric fields the tumor, with frequencies between 100–500 kHz. This modality is FDA-approved for treating glioblastoma (GBM). Administration of conducted using two pairs transducer arrays placed on patient’s scalp. The layouts a key factor in determining field distribution within body. NovoTAL system array supratentorial tumors. In previous works, we suggested infratentorial layouts, as well that target entirety brain higher uniformity. However, some clinical cases, patients may have tumor and single simultaneously. such situation, question whether can both layout arises. this work, examined all GBM available (NovoTAL, whole brain). We realistic healthy patient model (Duke, ITI’S, Zurich, Switzerland) assess distributions resulting different layouts. then created maps expected dose 10 cm sized each point brain, ranked regions best groups. Our results show infra-ventricular tumors, provide than any or For supra-ventricular stronger fields. A transition zone which groups provided similar was observed well. conclude option currently presented case depends location it above large ventricles beneath them.

Tumor treating fields (TTFields) delay DNA damage repair following radiation treatment of glioma cells

BACKGROUND Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields) are an anti-neoplastic treatment modality delivered via application of alternating electric fields using insulated transducer arrays placed directly on the skin in the region surrounding the tumor. A Phase 3 clinical trial has demonstrated the effectiveness of continuous TTFields application in patients with glioblastoma during maintenance treatment w...

Determining the Optimal Inhibitory Frequency for Cancerous Cells Using Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields)

Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields) are an effective treatment modality delivered via the continuous, noninvasive application of low-intensity (1-3 V/cm), alternating electric fields in the frequency range of several hundred kHz. The study of TTFields in tissue culture is carried out using the TTFields in vitro application system, which allows for the application of electric fields of varying freq...

The Evolving Role of Tumor Treating Fields in Managing Glioblastoma

Glioblastoma (GBM) is a devastating brain tumor with poor prognosis despite advances in surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. Survival of patients with glioblastoma remains poor, with only 1 in 4 patients alive at 2 years, and a 5-year survival rate of about 5%. Recurrence is nearly universal and, after recurrence, prognosis is poor with very short progression-free survival and overall survival...

Tumor treating fields: a novel treatment modality and its use in brain tumors

Tumor treating fields (TTFields) are low-intensity electric fields alternating at an intermediate frequency (200kHz), which have been demonstrated to block cell division and interfere with organelle assembly. This novel treatment modality has shown promise in a variety of tumor types. It has been evaluated in randomized phase 3 trials in glioblastoma (GBM) and demonstrated to prolong progressio...

Tumor-Treating Fields: A Fourth Modality in Cancer Treatment.

Despite major advances in therapy, cancer continues to be a leading cause of mortality. In addition, toxicities of traditional therapies pose a significant challenge to tolerability and adherence. TTFields, a noninvasive anticancer treatment modality, utilizes alternating electric fields at specific frequencies and intensities to selectively disrupt mitosis in cancerous cells. TTFields target p...
